SR&ED Hurts My Brain...

"Shred" as the start-up guys that I have been chatting with would call it, is a government initiative to subsidize and refund money spent on Scientific research & experimental development. Its kinda neat actually. as I understand it, in the real world where your corporation makes money, is positive, pays taxes and gives payroll to their employees, you claim some portion of your scientists and/or researchers salary and get 35% of what you spent off your taxes. But this is where I get confused. It should also be possible according to these start-up guys, to pay some tax personally, give our salaries to the company as loans and net money. NET... MONEY... how cool would that be! but because i'm sooo confused and my brain is aching we might not get the money. one of the requirements is understanding all this shit ;( too bad I guess. haha If anyone knows anything about how you structure this shit as a start-up so you get lots'o refund and pay little'o tax please oh please email me some links or what you did in this case. I'm still convinced that its possible (why would these start-up guys lie to me about this?) but I just don't know what it looks like, or what the magic little bit is...
