My Last Day At Sandvine

· From the 2010–2013 blog

It was December, 2006. I had spent the last term killing my self in 2B computer engineering at UWaterloo. I had spent the summer in India working for Infosys, and now with my mother chomping at the bit to get me home for Christmas, mostly still drunk, I headed the 3 block to Sandvine up on Albert street to spend a couple of days learning about the job I was going to do come January. I think I spent most of the days daydreaming in the corner and trying to look interested, but I got my first taste of some of the things that would come to define me in career land. I soldered with a real iron, under and optical scope, on parts I didn't even realize came so small. I learned that real people design circuit and assemble them is places as strange as Waterloo. and weeks later I realized that I was pretty great at this electrical engineering/hardware shit. Its been almost 4 years since my interview (I've work at Sandvine just over 3 years now). And today is my last day. There are a bunch of us going out to lunch, and I'm all but finished training my replacement. I'm done. nothing left to do but say goodbye. As for me, I'm schmooped up. and TIRED! last night I hung out with Lynn having beers and talking biz at McMullins which was just great! thanks a million to her for that! pawned a bit of stuff off on Patryk, and spent the rest of the night packing (I think Dad is coming for another load today). so in short, I'm sad, I'm nervous excited, and I'm exhausted. but its time to throw some more punches - here goes! p.s. I also want to say thanks again to Rob for dinner the other night - it was fantastic! Thanks again, I'm gonna miss you guys!
